Fun Summer Nails

Hello my amazing readers! How are you on this wonderful day? Summer is the perfect time for experimenting with fun trends. I don't really post much about nail art, nail varnishes or really anything to do with nails, but I loved the way these nail varnishes go together. I used to wear nail varnish on a regular basis, but was unable to wear it for a long time because of my guitar class at school. for those of you that play, you know how the stings can chip the varnish really easily,so it's easier o go without. Oh well, its not a heartbreaking loss :P

I used two coats of a bright orange red varnish, and layered one coat of a multi-coloured glitter varnish. The glitter polish is one of my favourites now.I though that I would need to put on at least three coats, but as you can see in the picture, one coat was enough!

Here are the varnishes that  used for this look:

Claire's Cosmetics Nail Polish in Stiletto

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink

Well, that's it for now! If you would like more of these types of posts, feel free to let me know. Until then, have a wonderful day.

Rainy Day Manicure

Hello my wonderful reads! How are all of you today? Today was a very rainy Sunday, perfect for just staying indoors and watching movies.I was out for most of the day, doing a few errands, but came home and snuggled under a blanket, watching Spider-Man 3(one of those movies you see 5 million times, yet still enjoy watching haha). It would rain one moment, and be sunny the next, as well as a bit chilly. Not exactly May weather, in my opinion. At least it hasn't snowed yet, as it has happened a few times in May.

For those of you that live in Canada, you are probably getting the most out of this May long-weekend, before school/work resumes, because of Victoria Day. I have school off until Tuesday, then back to work :( Oh well, I had Friday off, so I guess that should suffice.

Before I sign off for the night, here is a picture of the manicure I gave myself today. It is a simple design that I've been meaning to try for a while. Here is a list of the colours used:

Caribbean Cockail -Sephora by OPI collection07
Shining- Sally Hansen Laquer Shine Nail Colour
5 Minute French Manicure White Tip Pen-Sally Hansen

That's all for today! The blue colour is one of my favourites, as it is perfect for wearing all year round. I hope you all enjoy your long weekend.

Happy May Long Weekend

Pastels in Bloom Tutorial

Hello all of you electrifying readers! How are you on this marvelous day? Today's post will be an eyeshadow tutorial, that I am finally able to post. I had to retake some of the pictures, as I use natural lighting and it became cloudy outside. Keep reading to find out how I put this look together!

The weather outside is warm, but not the blazing type of heat in the summertime. Pastels are very versatile,as they can still be worn, even in this type of weather. This look is fun and refreshing, and or course, easy to recreate! I call it... " Pastels in Bloom" (dramatic emphasis). All joking( or lack thereof) aside, here's the tutorial!

Step 1: Start with freshly moisturized skin, and prep the eye area with concealer, primer, etc. Here, I am using my favourite NARS Concealer in Ginger ($25.00 CAD). Prime the whole eye area, including any dark circles and the lower lashline. This step prevents any creasing of the bright colours that are going on your eyes.

Step 2: After the eye area has been prepped, apply a soft rosy cream blush to your eyelids, using a blender brush. gently dab the brush into the cream blush. Pat the colour onto the eyelids, a little bit past the crease, gently blend out any harsh edges. Gently build up the colour until you reach the desired opacity. Try to aim for a gradient effect, with more of the colour being concentrated on the outer corners. Here, I am using the Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick in Rosy Blush ($24.00 CAD)

Step 3:  Bring a little bit of the colour down towards your inner corners, pat with a clean finger to fade out the colour.

Step 4: Apply a bright, deep purple shadow to the outer corners of your eyes. Gently blend it inwards, blending it into the pink blush. Blend it in about a third of the way in, and then fade the colour out. Add more pink, if the colours become too murky. Here I am using the Clinique Colour Surge Quad in Purple (packaged in a gift set, with a $50 CAD purchase), the deep purple colour. This colour can also be found in the Clinique Colour Surge Beach Plum Duo ($25.00 CAD).

Step 5: Add a punch bright liner or powder eyeshadow to your lower lashline. Softly smudge in a jewel coloured liner, two thirds of the way into your lashline, and pat it gently with your finger to blend. Here, I am using the bright blue from my Lancome Colour Design Eye Brightening All-In-One -5 Shadow & Liner Palette, in Teal Fury ($54.00 CAD)

Step 6: This step is optional, but it does make a difference. Gently tightline your lower waterline with a white or peach eyeliner. This will open up the eyes, as well as make them appear brighter and whiter.

Step 7: Gently tightline your upper lashline with a black eyeliner. When you are finished with tightlining, gently pat the liner on your upper lashline, and smudge it out. This gives your eyelashes a bit of definition, without stealing the spotlight away from your bright eyeshadow. Here I am using the Clinique Quickliner for Eyes, in Really Black ($19.50 CAD).

Step 8: The last step, is to curl your lashes, and coat them with a thin coat of volumizing mascara. Apply a coat to both upper and lower lashes. The mascara I am using is the Sephora Collection Lash Plumper Mascara in Black ($ 16.00 CAD)

There you have it! A fun and cute eyeshadow look, that was very easy to do! I will be posting the photos soon, so stay tuned. Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day!

Trend Update: Ombré 2.0

Hello my dazzling readers! How are you, on this fine day? This is the time of year, where spring and summer beauty trends collide, a time where any trend can be pulled off, and every colour is in style. I try not to follow trends too closely, I just buy whatever I admire. This just happens to be one trend that I've always liked. You may have seen this trend earlier on in the year, or even last year, but this new updated version appears to be more fresh and trendy. Its easy to pull off, and their seems to be an unlimited number of shades an styles to choose from, which is always a plus. Below are a few of my favourite ways to incorporate this amazing trend.

Ombré Lips

This is an easy way to participate in this trend. it can easily be created using safe, neutral colours, or vibrant, opaque ones. I might do a tutorial on this, as I adore this incorporation of the ombré trend.

Ombré Eyeshadow

This is another great way to utilize this trend. This style seems to always be in fashion, but it never hurts to try it out anyways!

Clothing

Here are a few pictures of ombré clothing that I thought were really cute.

Ombre 2.0

That's all for today! I hope you all try out this trend. The best thing about this trend, is how you can incorporate it into your look, without having to worry about how you incorporate it, Well, I'm off to bed now, I have to get up early tomorrow. Stay tuned for the next post!

Acne vs Self Esteem

Hello my superb readers! How are you enjoying life? Today's post is a bit different from what I normally talk about, but I hope it comes in handy for some of you. It is something that I was contemplating to blog about earlier, but I guess its never the wrong time to talk about it. The title is a dead giveaway, but its perfect, in it's own way. Keep reading to find out!

Our teenage years, as well as life in general, are already pretty tough. I love life, and I hope you all find it to be just as amazing. However, acne can get in the way of our daily lives, and can cause noticeable changes in the way we see ourselves. Discussing acne can make some people uncomfortable, but its a part of life that a large portion of the population has to go through. It may seem like nobody else in your school, city, etc is getting it, but your not alone. A lot of people don't realize how common acne really is, there are still people who treat it like some rare disorder. It shouldn't have to be like that.

Some of you are probably wondering How can one tiny spot affect self esteem? The thing is, most people don't realize how that "one little spot" can really take a toll on your self esteem. The only reason I can think very little about my answer while I am typing, is because I have have had acne for along time. I have had acne since I was about 10. It started out as a little bit of acne, and eventually cleared up every so often, but it never really went away.It has become slightly worse, but people hardly notice, so I don't mind it. I know that acne can be "fixed" by using prescriptions, as well as hyped-up gimmicks, but its not as easy as that. There are many drugstore products, as well as over the counter medications, that claim to cure the dreaded acne curse, but the search for the perfect product may take a long time.

Searching for a way to get rid of acne is time consuming, as well as stressful. Some products may worsen acne, or cause chemical burns, and lead to lower self esteem. A last resort for many, is to just pile on the makeup, so it is won't be as noticeable. This can lead to even more acne, and even more layers of makeup. there are also instances where people change themselves within society, becoming more introverted, or even more boisterous to compensate for lingering insecurities.

Among all the negativity, there is hope. For many people, its a long battle, to get back that confidence, and to stop worrying about their skin. I don't let my acne bother me. Sure, I sometimes dread having it, but its going to go away, so its not something to worry about. Acne is a normal part of life, as I wrote earlier, don't let your acne get in the way of doing the things you love. It may take a while to stop fretting over your skin, but you will get there in time.

I hope you enjoyed this type of post, let me know if you readers would like more of these types of posts. Well, stay tuned for the next post, which will be up shortly! Thank you for reading.

Happy May
