Tip of the Day- SPF, Your New BFF

The sun is shining, and the beach is just calling your name, so why waste any time putting on any heavy products. Bathing suit season isn't meant for cloying face products, plus the water will wash them off anyways. Not like you can harm you're skin from an hour lounging by the pool, its better to go natural in the summer, right?

Wrong.

As much as we all hate to apply sun screen or sun block and risk looking like one of those lily-white children from a retro Christmas special, its better to look the fool than be the one that risks healthy skin, just to show off how "sick" your tan has become.

Though it sucks to have to reapply it over and over again, its less risky than having to fork over some serious cash for expensive treatments, that most likely won't be able to repair a lot of the damage done to YOUR skin.

The much coveted tan of North America can still be acheived, as there are a bunch of sun protectants on the market that will delay the tanning process, while protecting the skin from the most harmful UVA/UVB rays, and that's even if its applied properly.

C'mon. If you have 30 minutes to spare curling your hair before you enter a pool and wreck that work of art, then I'm sure you can manage the same amount to protect the most visible organ: your skin.

Try to avoid cosmetics that have built-in sunscreen (BB creams, I'm looking at you), as there is usally not enough of the protectant in the product itself, to do the job right. Just stick to applying sunscreen before makeup, and afterwards ( usually between 1-2 hours) of first applying the sunscreen. Also, avoid using just body or sun lotion, as the sunscreen for the face may not be as effective as the body one, and the body sunscreen may irritate your face It may be a hassle, but you'll save yourself the time and effort of trying to repair deep wrinkles, or even something as extreme as melanoma.

Be smart, stay chic, and make sure to pack extra sunscreen.

Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo Review

Hello lovely readers! Long time no see! I went to the doctors a couple of weeks ago, and I found out after some bloodwork and a quick x-ray, that I do not have any tiny fractures in my arm, but I do have some sort of muscle or ligament tear in my left arm. I have been wearing a sling ever since, and it's on my writing arm as well! I'll post a picture of it later, but for now, here's my review!

This product has been gaining a lot of positive attention lately, and with good reason. Since it is made by Dove, you know that the product will work amazing, no joke. I've been on the hunt for a good dry shampoo that is both inexpensive and  and effective. I have tried a few before, but it felt like I used chalk dust o  my scalp. This one fit my über simple criteria for sure.

Let's take a look at the packaging. Its so clean and simple looking. It just makes you think of that fresh Dove scent that you get from their beauty bars. I also liked how it had an aerosol nozzle that actually worked. Finally, somebody got it right! Other brands seem to clog up, and then you have to rinse it every time, which is a bit time consuming. So far, I have had no problem at all with getting the nozzle to work. Kudos, Dove. One thing that I noticed was that two of the three cans I purchased had leaked through the nozzle, after a couple uses. I was a little confused to why the defect would occur with such frequency, but who knows, maybe it leaks if the nozzle is pushed from an odd angle or twisted funny. Nonetheless, the third can worked fine, and it is still pretty full, even after several usages.

The product itself is pretty rad. When it is spray it too many times in one area, it leaves a white cast on your hair. I have dark brown hair, and I found that it disappears without a trace after working
in the product after a couple seconds. Here's where the magic happens. After a quick brush, mu bair is shiny, clean and soft. Wow. Did I mention it only costs around $3.75 (CAD) for 5 ounces?

I would say it did a pretty good job of absorbing all the oil, without any heavy buildup. I have oily hair, and it did darn well even on the second and third day of skipping shampoo. I can now skip using shampoo and use water for 3 days at the most, rather than everyday.

As mentioned before, the packaging makes me think of that fresh Dove scent. I smells nice and clean, like a purifying kind of scent. It reminds me of their original shampoo.

Overall, I loved this product. Its cheap, easy to find, and does the job. I would buy this again, for sure. I'm not concerned about the nozzle, as leakage can be prevented. Well, thanks for reading!

Happy Thursday
