Electric Blush Turns One!

Hello my wonderful readers! How are you today? I should have posted this earlier in the month, but something kept interrupting the task at hand. A year ago, I started this blog. Blogging was something I've always wanted to do, but it never seemed like the right time to join until last year. My first post was a year ago, on June 6, 2011, which can be viewed here. It has been a year since I decided to make my own little niche in the blogging world, and I thank every reader for your support. I always get excited whenever I see  so many different countries viewing my blog each week. Again, thank you, for reading my posts, and have an amazing day.

Happy Summer

I should have another post up after my exam, as I do not want any distractions from studying. Well, enjoy the beginning of summer you lucky ducks. See you in a few days!

Last Day of School :D

Hello my amazing readers! How are all of you? Today was the last day of school for me, and it sure made me feel nostalgic. I thought about all of my years in that one school, and how it was slowly coming to an end. I still have one more year to go, but I will truly miss it. It really makes you think about what we take for granted in life. School is where you forge unbreakable friendships, make sacrifices for the better, and figure out who we are as members of society. I know there are a lot of people that hated/hate school, but just think, you are given the chance to make a difference in this world, with your education. Don't get me wrong, doing physics homework at 1 AM sucks, if it was up to me, I'd make homework optional (there's always that one person that loves doing physics). Well, I hope you all had an amazing Friday, and congratulations to all those that have graduated this year.

Happy Friday

Long Hair: FAQ's

Hello you stupendous readers! I hope you are all enjoying the last days of spring. It just makes you want to lie out in the sun and wear dresses everyday!Today's post is sort of haircare guide, aimed towards those with long hair. If any of you have shorter hair, you can still use some of these tips. I'm one of those people that have had long hair "forever". I've never had it layered or dyed, but have had a fringe many times. A lot of the beauty questions I get asked, revolve around how to grow or look after long hair. Here are some of the questions that I get asked a lot. I will warn you, this is a pretty lengthy post!

Q: How  many months does it take to grow your hair to be that long (almost three feet)?

A: The rate at which somebody's hair grows can depend on many factors. It all comes down to genetics, and the way one takes care of themselves. I would say that I have a balanced diet, though I have a sweet tooth. I have medium-thick hair, and it seems to be fairly strong. I guess the key to growing out your hair is to get the suggested amount of nutrients for your age groups, and take care of your body. Try not to kill your hair with heat-styling, it can make your hair prone to abnormal breakage, and make it fried.

Q: What type of shampoo should I use?

A: Try to buy the shampoo suits your hair type or skin/scalp type. For example, you can use a shampoo designed for coarse hair, and one for a dry scalp. It may take a while to find the right ones, but as long as they don't damage your hair, go ahead and use it. Most of the shampoos are similar, I do not see much of a difference in results when I use a different brand.

Q: How often should I cut my hair?

A: It depends on how long you want your hair. I get a hair trim every 2-3 months , but I guess that may be a long stretch for some people. I hardly get split ends, which I probably why I can go this log without a trim. I would suggest lengthening the time between cuts by a few weeks, and then trimming a little bit off the ends.

Q: Does long hair require a lot of maintenance?

Personally, I do not use many products in my hair or even heat style it that often. I like to  air dry my hair, to bring our my natural waves. If I want to curl my hair, I usually use flexible rollers or plait it. So in short, no, I do not think that it takes much maintenance, it takes two seconds to brush. However, it may take more bobby pins to make an updo, if you are not comfortable with putting up your hair. It will get easier, as they make pins for long hair, and there are tricks that you can do with one pin.

Q: I heard that people with long hair lose more hair than others, is this true?

A:  Yes, and no. I said yes, because I find that long hair gets caught on things once on a while, such as the screws on the back of school chairs, which painfully rips out a few strands of hair. Other than that, you should still lose the average amount of 50-100 strands. In all honesty, it may look like you are losing a ton of hair, but thats because it is longer, and you may not be used to it yet. So, try not to be too alarmed when you empty out your hair brush, or see a few strands in the shower. If you are losing excessive amounts of hair, please consult a physician.

I hope this mini FAQ's about long hair answered any concerns you may have. I think I might do more posts on hair, since I style my hair more in the summer. Well, I am going to go an enjoy the wonderful weather outside. Thanks for reading!

Happy Summer

Fun Summer Nails

Hello my amazing readers! How are you on this wonderful day? Summer is the perfect time for experimenting with fun trends. I don't really post much about nail art, nail varnishes or really anything to do with nails, but I loved the way these nail varnishes go together. I used to wear nail varnish on a regular basis, but was unable to wear it for a long time because of my guitar class at school. for those of you that play, you know how the stings can chip the varnish really easily,so it's easier o go without. Oh well, its not a heartbreaking loss :P

I used two coats of a bright orange red varnish, and layered one coat of a multi-coloured glitter varnish. The glitter polish is one of my favourites now.I though that I would need to put on at least three coats, but as you can see in the picture, one coat was enough!

Here are the varnishes that  used for this look:

Claire's Cosmetics Nail Polish in Stiletto

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink

Well, that's it for now! If you would like more of these types of posts, feel free to let me know. Until then, have a wonderful day.
