Bunny-Friendly Makeup :)

Hello my dashing readers! How have you been? The weather has been quite beautiful lately, and all of the snow has melted in my city. This is the perfect time for making more tutorials! Today’s post is a little bit different from what I normally post. If you are thinking that the title suggests putting makeup on bunnies, it certainly does not. In truth, it represents the makeup products and companies that do not test on cute little animals.

I personally do not support animal testing, but it is hard to avoid it's effects in our daily lives.  We cannot know for sure, that a product is 100% “cruelty free”, as raw materials for makeup, can come from anywhere. At some point in time, ingredients from popular cosmetics have been tested on animals, without our knowledge. Animal testing is indeed wrong, but it had also allowed for many ground-breaking innovations to emerge. Again, animal testing is not a righteous act, so I will now list some of my favourite companies. Please do not feel too offended by these, words, it is based off of common knowledge, as well as personal opinions. Keep reading to find out who made the list!
The following companies do not test on animals, to my knowledge. The companies typed out in green are also vegan.

Ten Companies That Do Not Test on Animals:

1. Urban Decay

2. Almay

3. Beauty Without Cruelty

4. Physician’s Formula

5. The Body Shop

6. Sleek Makeup

7. Clinique

8. Stila Cosmetics

9. Origins

10. Lush (has a selection of vegan products, as well)

There you have it! This is a few of my favourite beauty brands that do not test on animals. If you would like to find more beauty products that do not test on animals, you can visit www.peta.org, or even www.leapingbunny.org, for much larger lists. If you have trouble spotting cruelty-free makeup in stores, try looking for a statement at the bottom of the product, or even a seal of approval. I hope this list helped to give you the idea that cruelty-free can also mean high quality cosmetics. If there are any mistakes in this list, please let me know.  Thank you for reading my blog , stay tuned for my next post.

Happy Waiting

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil Review

Hello you wonderful readers! How are you? Today’s review will be on the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. I originally purchased this product from one of the Shopper’s Drugmart in my hometown. It came in set, which contained the eye pencil in Zero (can be described as a carbon black), the same type of eye pencil in the shade Ransom (deep eggplant), as well as a bonus Grindhouse eye pencil sharpener. I should have posted this earlier, but I wasn’t feeling well last week, which knocked my whole schedule out of orbit. Well, on to the review!

Urban Decay is known for their high quality, cruelty free, vegan –friendly, products. That may have been a mouth full on its own terms, but it’s purely good stuff. I have a ton of eyeliners, I won’t lie, which automatically makes me an expert on this subject (kidding, don’t own THAT many liners).

The liners are enriched with jojoba oil, which means they will not dry out and turn waxy like other liners I have tried. These pencil liners glide on smoothly, and effortlessly, and do not tug on the delicate eyelids. They are easy to smudge, within the first minute or so, and then the liner will not budge afterwards, which is a plus. Usually, with waterproof eyeliners, you can never get the product to be able to do both.

I really admire the fact that the pencils are creamy, and highly pigmented,so you do not have to apply a lot of pressure, when lining your eyes. The picture below, is my eyeliner, after wearing it for about 12 hours, and it the line is still opaque. usually, the liner will start  to fade by the end of the day, or even start to smudge down to my lower lashes. I did not have this problem with these eyeliners, and I am truly impressed.

Another great feature, is how easy it is to remove at the end of the day, with my makeup remover. Yes, this is a waterproof product, butt I found that it could be whisked  away from my eyelids, without a lot of effort. This is a great feature, as it saves you a lot of time, when removing your makeup.

Now, it's time for the verdict! This product is effortlessly easy to use, without any hassle: no messy smudges, no fading, and no disappointment. These are some of the best liners that you can come across, so please consider trying them out if given the opportunity.  You can buy this wonderful eye pencil duo, ( which have a few other colour combinations), from Shoppers' Drugmart ($30 CAD), and the other respectable establishments. I hope you enjoyed my review, thank you for reading.

Hello all of you amazing readers! How are all of you today? I hope you all enjoyed this Friday. Hopefully, nothing unfortunate had happened today. I am currently out of town, as I am still on spring break. It’s a great way to discover more beauty brands, and of course, do more reviews as well. I will be doing a couple of reviews for you, as I did not bring the required makeup for a tutorial I have planned. Well, until tomorrow. I will now leave you this delicious picture of sushi, that I had for dinner.

Cute Spring Trends 2012

Hello my treasured readers! How are all of you today? I know there are many of you that prefer spring fashion and makeup more than any other season, so this post is just for you. I’ve compiled a list of my favourite trends for spring, and I hope you enjoy them as well. Keep reading to find out!

Full Fringe
This is one trend that I am currently taking part in. I did not realize its comeback until I saw others wearing it as well. This classic hairstyle boasts a more modern edge, as the fringe appears fuller and slightly wispy at the ends. It I best to have this type of fringe so it just skims your eyebrows. To get the most out of this trend, try either keeping your fringe nice and straight, or slightly mussed.

Peplum Skirts
Peplum skirts are perfect for this season. The full skirt manages to complete an outfit, without having over-accessorize. This peplum skirt (pictured below) is very feminine, and seems business-appropriate as well.

Pastels
Spring and pastel colours are synonymous with each other. Soft pastels can be applied to everything this season, such as nail vanish, clothes, makeup, and yes, lilac hair counts as well. There are countless ways you can incorporate this refreshing colour palette into your life, so try them all if you can!

Hair Chalking
Hair chalking, is one method of dip-dying hair, however, it is temporary. This method is fun to use, as you can do it in your own home, with non-toxic chalk pastels, water, and a hair appliance (such as a hair curler) to set the colour. This method is perfect, if you desire vibrant purple locks, but do not want the long-commitment. I will consider a tutorial on this fun trend, so stay tuned!

Artistic Eyeliner
This trend is pretty versatile, as you can change up the look as much as you like. Modern versions of the popular cat-eye liner are making more of an appearance this season. If a mere cat eye is not your cup of tea, try getting a bit creative with your liner, by adding an extra wing, or making an intricate design. All of the options mentioned will do very well this season.

Well, there are my favourite trends for this season. Young, vibrant, and fresh looks, that are sure to please even the toughest of critics. Thank you for reading my post, and stay tuned for more tips!

Pretty Spring Pastels Tutorial

Hello my wonderful readers! How are you all doing? Today feels like a tutorial day, so be prepared for the new look I came up with. I am off of school for about 10 days, because of the Teacher’s Convention so stay updated on upcoming posts. I hope you enjoy wearing this look, as I had a bit of fun making it. Keep scrolling down for the details, and feel free to give your opinions about this look after you finish reading. Well, onto today’s post!

As spring is slowly making is appearance, it’s good to keep a few soft, pastel looks in your repertoire. Now is the perfect time to incorporate these feminine yet bold looks. I am going to be using a palette that I previously reviewed, as I believe that this palette is perfect for spring, because of the modern shades of teal. The main palette I am using is the Lancôme Paris Colour Design: Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow and Liner Palette ($54.00 CAD), in Teal Fury.  Let’s get started!

Step 1: Before you apply any eyeshadow, prime your eyelids, to reduce creasing. Instead of using an actual primer, I am going to use a little bit of foundation. This was a sample I obtained from a Lancôme counter. The colour was too a couple of shades too dark, and was on the yellow-ish brown side. It worked out perfectly, as it did a splendid job of covering my dark circles.
The foundation was the Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation ($44.00 CAD, department stores)

Step 2: The second thing you are going to do, is apply a sheer crème eyeshadow all over you eyelids, gently patting the eyeshadow onto the lids, then gently blending it out with a clean finger. Using a sheer crème shadow can help prevent creasing of the main eyeshadow colours, while making blending the shadows much easier. Try: Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow in Va Va Bloom ($ 8.87 CAD, drugstores)

Step 3: Choose a teal-green eyeshadow, and apply it to the outer two-thirds of your eyelids. Gently blend the shadow, on the outer corners. Also, blend the shadow with the peach créme shadow, creating a soft gradient effect. This is the look you want to achieve, with a very soft, approachable eyeshadow combination. Bring a  bit of the colour down to the lower lashline, and blend it out.

Step 4: To brighten up the eyes, line your lower waterline with a white eyeliner pencil. To achieve maximum results, gently dab a Q-tip along the lower waterline, to absorb any fluid, and then apply the liner. The white liner will give the illusion of larger, and much brighter looking eyes.Make sure you are using a matte pure white eyeliner, it gives a more natural effect. I used The Body Shop Eye Definer in 05 White ( $11.00 CAD, The Body Shop).

Step 5: The next step, is to line your upper lashline. Use a dark brown eyeliner, as it looks more natural than a black eyeliner. Make a thin line starting from the inner corners, and make a small tapered wing at the outer corners, blending out the line when you finish. Make tiny swift dots with your eyeliner on your lower lashline, working from the outer part, until you get one third of the way lined. Gently pat the liner to blend it. This creates the appearance of thicker lashes, and a slight change in the shape of your eye. The liner used was the Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Coffee ($28.00 CAD, department stores)

Step 6: To finish off this simple and fresh look, use a thin coat of black mascara, to seal the deal. Coat the top lashes, and put the remainder of the mascara on your lower lashes. I used Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black ( $31.00 CAD)

Well, there you go! A simple, and clean eyeshadow look, perfect  for spring. This is just one of the Spring looks I came up with, so keep staying up to date, for the next one. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone! Thank you for reading.

Happy Springtime
